I was looking forward to our fourth day of vacation because we were spending a whole day at Universal, which is our favorite place to be. The day was all about rides, food and endless butterbeers. Sadly, it ended up being the most exhausting and upsetting night of the trip.
Since I’ve did an OOTD on every other vacation post, I’ll add one on here too. On this day, McKenzie and Kasey wore their dinosaur shirts with matching green bows from Sprispals. Cody and I didn’t plan any special outfits… lame, I know.
We headed into Islands of Adventure, eager to show the girls everything. I was most excited to scare them on the Jurassic Park ride (I swear I’m a good mom)! We spent the morning hitting all the rides on the way back to Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Spider-Man is always a favorite and the girls thought so too. They even got to meet him! I do want to mention that we were pretty disappointed with the new King Kong ride. The queue was amazing but totally scary for kids. The actual ride was just blah. The girls loved everything Harry Potter…they are my children after all! We brought their wands and tried some spells in Hogsmeade. After that we hopped on the Hogwarts Express, the best place to cool down and relax your legs for a few minutes. Has anyone ever spotted the hidden Voldemort on the train? We did!
We then spent some time in Universal and tried the new Jimmy Fallon ride. We loved it! I was sad we only rode that once the entire trip. I love that Universal is starting to do virtual lines now! When we entered the park I got on the Universal Studios app and reserved a time slot for us to ride, so there was no standing in lines. Pretty cool!
A huge chunk of time was spent at the Dr. Seuss land. Cody and I have never ventured in there before this trip because we thought it was mostly for small children. McKenzie and Kasey loved it, especially meeting all the characters. Just look at those happy faces!
Just like every other day we headed back to the resort to take a mid-day break, then straight back to the parks! We were really excited to eat dinner at a new restaurant in City Walk called Toothsome’s Chocolate Emporium. As we were walking there, my daughter Kasey was balancing on a small ledge. She lost her footing and fell onto the cement, directly on her wrist. She was crying out in pain and holding onto her arm so I immediately started freaking out. Her wrist swelled up almost instantly. I could tell she was actually in pain and not just crying for attention. Poor girl!
We left the parks, changed our clothes and headed to the nearest ER. At this point it was almost 10:00pm. *Insert worst part of my entire trip here*
The waiting room at the ER was packed. We didn’t have to wait that long to get into intake but oh boy, did we wait after that. They wouldn’t allow Cody and McKenzie to come into the room with us so they had to stay in the waiting room. They eventually moved back to the car so McKenzie could fall asleep. Kasey and I waited in the room for nearly THREE hours until the first person came in. She took some x-rays then left. Another hour later, a man came in to start putting her arm in a splint. When I asked what was wrong with her arm, he responded “I am not able to tell you the x-ray results”. AHH! At this point I was fuming. Okay, so splint is now on. After a grand total of almost FIVE hours a doctor comes in, shows me an x-ray picture, says her wrist is fractured and I was sent on my way. I was told to follow up with a local doctor and that she couldn’t swim or ride any fast rollercoasters the rest of trip.
I got back into the car and instantly started crying out of frustration. Kasey’s favorite part of the trip so far was swimming at the hotel and going down the water slide. I was heartbroken for her. She was a trooper the entire time and it was clear that I was way more upset than her. I decided I wouldn’t let this humongous splint ruin her first ever vacation!
Stay tuned for our day five blog post to see how I tried to make the most of Kasey’s trip! xoxo

This is our last vlog from the trip. Honestly after the fractured wrist incident, I lost my motivation to film. I focused on making sure Kasey had the best time on our last two days.
