The Soltrop Six

life with two sets of twins

October 27, 2017

happy v-day!

Today was a big day for our family… and for my husband Cody (poor guy)! It was VASECTOMY DAY!! You might think this is strange, writing a blog post about getting a vasectomy but its something that is pretty important in a marriage and family.

We are closing a chapter of our life. It was a really fun and exciting chapter so that is why we are choosing to celebrate today. Building a family, aka creating humans, is something every family cherishes. It can happen by accident or be completely planned – either way every single one of them are blessings.

The reason Cody went for the vasectomy vs. me getting my tubes tied is because my uterus has already went through two surgeries and two twin pregnancies. I think that girl did her time ;). The hospital I delivered at won’t tie your tubes or else I would have gotten it done during my last c-section. Also, Cody’s insurance covers the procedure for the snip! Bonus!

I never thought I’d be done having kids at the age of 27 but since I make em’ two at a time, there is no way I’m chancing that again. I loved being pregnant and sometimes I feel sad that I didn’t get to have that opportunity more than twice. Then again, I loved the rarity of having two sets of twins because it makes our family unique. The kids can always use that as their “fun fact” about themselves on the first day of college. 😉 I think Cody will be happy now that this exact conversation won’t happen EVERY month…

Me: (period is one day late) I’m pregnant. I just know it.
Cody: No you’re not.
Me: I really think so this time.
Cody: No you’re not.
Me: (the next day, after getting my period) You were right.
Cody: I know.

We have four beautiful kids and our family feels SO complete. We look forward to the following years of raising them and watching them grow into the people they are meant to be. I hate rushing anything because I know I’ll miss these days but I cannot wait until I’m helping McKenzie and Kasey pick out their prom dresses or wedding dresses (omg.)! With Harper and Mason, I just can’t wait until they are out of diapers…

Goodbye little spermies… you will be missed!
