“Date-iversary”… I know what you’re thinking, is that even a thing? Well it is for us! My husband and I have been married two years but have been together for eight years. I hate when people ask how long we’ve been married – they probably think we are newbies at this. I’m not discrediting those extra six years because they were some of the best!
So, we’ve celebrated our date-iversary (which is our boyfriend/girlfriend anniversary) every year. We don’t buy gifts but instead go out for a kidless dinner and enjoy ourselves. Any excuse to get out of the house is ok with us! Whenever we have a kid-free night, we end up looking at pictures of them or talking about them the entire time anyways. I’m sure other parents can relate!
I wanted to write a little letter to my hubs, since he’s an avid blog reader 😉 to let him know these past eight years have been the best! BUT I realized I did that in our wedding anniversary post a few months ago. So instead, I scoured our photo albums and pulled out some of my favorite photos throughout the years. Enjoy!
2010: He asked me to be his girlfriend (haha, so lame!) January 29th, 2010. We had only been “hanging out” for a month or so. We look like babies!
2011: Cody still has that baby face going on! 🙂 This was us at a Motley Crue concert.
2012: We moved into a townhouse together but he basically had already moved into my tiny apartment before that.
2013: We got engaged! This was us on our engage-moon. Am I the only one who makes up these weird words??
2014: We had engagement pictures taken this year.
2015: We got married!! That’s pure happiness on my face. How did I snag such a good guy?!
2016: This picture was taken on our first outing after having Harper and Mason. We both look a little tired!
2017: Feeling blessed looking through our family pictures from this year because the life we created together is unreal.
I can’t wait to be looking through family pictures when I’m 80 with him by my side. I will remember struggling through these hard years together. We will sit and talk about how beautiful our family is, how all of it started with us and how it was worth every hurtle we encountered.
I love you Cody Nicholas!
Ok I’m crying.. bye.
