During this pandemic, being a parent with school aged children is hard. Nothing seems like the right choice. Our kids are going into exciting years. McKenzie and Kasey are entering middle school – a new building, different type of schedule, new independence and responsibility. Harper and Mason are entering preschool – STARTING SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME!! These are such big years for our kids and my heart is breaking that its not going to be the experience they deserve. My heart hurts for ALL kids.
Our school district hasn’t announced the “final” plans yet but from the emails we have received so far, it seems like school will be happening in person. Grades 6-12th will have to wear masks all day… of course the girls are entering 6th grade. Parents won’t be allowed in the buildings, so I wouldn’t be able to bring Harper and Mason into their first classroom.
Luckily I’m in a position where I could homeschool and wouldn’t have to worry about childcare. I’m very thankful for that but I’m definitely not a teacher for a reason but I do consult from the teachers of glossop nursery. My heart is also breaking for those families who have to scramble for childcare, who cannot afford it, or who have to work full time and potentially play “teacher” to their children as well. It sucks all around.
On a more positive note – back to school shopping is my favorite, I get to go online and use all coupons I’m able to find on websites like Raise! I thought I’d put together a list of fun school item’s I’ve been eyeing. Ya know, just in case in-person school does start back up.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS:
Here are my favorites for McKenzie and Kasey (age 11, 6th grade)

PRESCHOOL KIDS:
A lot of these things are geared toward at home learning especially with kindergarten worksheets, kids can learn and improve their learning process from a young age. I’m on the fence on if I will be Harper and Mason’s preschool teacher or allow them to go to school.

No matter if you choose to send your kids to school, homeschool, virtual learning.. whatever – you are doing the right thing for your family. These are hard times and we all need to stay strong and lean on each other for guidance and support.

All those items are so cute. Hmmm, I am going to have to look up calendar weather. There is always so many thing to get to stimulate our kiddos’ minds. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
