Just like adults, kids have their own love language. It’s important to connect with them on that level where they will feel loved the most. I would say that my children’s love language is QUALITY TIME. Some more than others, but overall quality time is one of their love languages. This might stem from them being twins and literally never having time to themselves.

I have four kids and a husband. I’m spread thin between all of them constantly needing me. It’s hard for them to get that one on one time with me that they crave. So I decided to make it a point to take my children out on special dates. This is just me and them. They don’t need to share me or share their time with their siblings. I decided to do one date night a month with each of the kids. Here is what we did…
First was Mckenzie’s Date in October. She is very crafty and loves art. I decided to take her to a ceramics painting studio and out to lunch at the local pizza place. We both had fun and even get to keep our creations forever!
Second was Harper’s date in November. She got to get dressed up and watch Mary Poppins on stage. We also went to Qdoba (her favorite place) for dinner. I was a little nervous to bring her, in case she thought it was boring but she loved it!
Third was Mason’s date in December. We did a fun date to Chuck E Cheese to play some games and eat some pizza. I knew I wanted to choose a place he could run around freely, because that’s what he enjoys.
Last but not least was Kasey’s date in January. We went out to lunch, shopping at the mall and to see a scary movie. Kasey was the hardest to decide on what to do because she is such a chill kid. I stuck to the typical “teenager” type of date for her.
I tried to choose dates that I thought fit them the best and that they would enjoy. We all had a lot of fun and I think they will remember their dates with mom. 🙂 I don’t plan to do this EVERY month but definitely going to make it more frequent. I wanted to share our dates to encourage you to do the same with your own kids and maybe give you some ideas on things to do.

- Walk around the mall
