life with two sets of twins

new year resolutions | goodbye target

January 8, 2017

I totally wrote this before the new year but I’m just getting around to posting. I’m usually not one for resolutions, but I’ve had a hard time transitioning back into my ‘normal’ self since having Harper and Mason. We’ve also been a one income family for almost a year and it is time to start acting like one, aka goodbye Target. ๐Ÿ™ Here is to hoping these goals help with both of those problems!

Check out my resolutions for 2017:

One | READ MORE
Reading is something I love doing and I honestly haven’t been making time for me to do it anymore. Obviously my days are packed full of diaper changes and bus stop runs but I have a lot of time at night when the babies go to sleep. I want to start putting down my phone and picking up the books. My goal is to read 1-2 new books a month.

Two | SWEAR LESS
Yeah yeah, I know my favorite word is f*** but I really need to cut back on the swearing. It’s really not attractive.

Three | SAVE MORE MONEY
Cody and I have always been pretty good at saving money, especially when we both were working. Since we have been a one income family, we do still manage to save but not as much. One thing we want to cut back on is unnecessary purchases. Fast food, clothing, etc. can definitely be more of a luxury thing. This leads me into my next goal…

Four | LIMIT TARGET TIME
Seriously though, Target is my weakness. I can easily spend $50-100 every time I go. With that being said, I want to cut my Target stops to once every two weeks. We shall see how this goes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Five | SPEND MORE ALONE TIME TOGETHER
Cody works A LOT. Some weeks I feel like I barely see him. We want to spend at least one night out a month together. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a fancy dinner/movie date (we are trying to save money after all ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) but get a babysitter for a night and spend time alone.

Six | MAKE MORE TIME FOR MY FRIENDS
I have struggled with this one since having Harper and Mason. As I just said, I don’t really get alone time with my own husband so when we do have a babysitter we spend that time together. I want to have a night out with the girls at least once every two months. Wine, dancing, dressing up… oh yes. I need that like now.

Seven | TAKE MORE CANDID PICTURES OF THE KIDS

I know what you’re thinking… this girl takes more pictures of her kids than anyone else I know. This may be true but I’m trying to focus on capturing the small every day moments that I know I will miss as life steals time away. Perfectly posed pictures are awesome but its these tiny moments that are the best.

Oh, and I’m going to workout and eat healthy. ๐Ÿ˜‰ #basic

I’m excited about this year and hope I can commit to these goals. Not swearing might take some time but hopefully I’ll get there ๐Ÿ˜‰ . What are some of your simple goals you have for 2017? Share them in the comments!
