Our master bedroom has always been the least of our concerns since we moved into our house seven years ago. During that time we were both finishing college, getting married and having another set of twins! Once I started to notice that EVERY room of the house was getting taken over by toys, I wanted at least one room that was completely mine.

As you may know, our master bedroom has been in “re-decorate” mode for a few months now. We painted and got some new furniture but it still needs all the finishing touches to make it feel complete. After that is finished, I’d love to turn to our master bath and give that a much needed update too! (Credit: thecharmingbenchcompany.com)
First of all, it’s pink. Why in the world did no one tell me that pink was a stupid idea? It looks like it should be McKenzie and Kasey’s bathroom! Well until we are ready to jump into all of that, I decided we definitely needed some more shelving in this room.

Anyways, down to business. I am finally getting around to posting Mason and Harper’s nursery. I absolutely love how this room turned out. I think it is the perfect mix of girl and boy. When we first moved in to our house a few years ago, this room was nasty. Check out the before pictures.
m & k bedroom make over
I’ve been excited about posting McKenzie and Kasey’s bedroom make-over! Their room is ALWAYS the messiest room in the house as you can see from the ‘before’ pictures. So we needed to find a way to fix that. 🙂 They are almost 8 years old and starting second grade, so I think that constitutes a big girl bedroom. Their room was filled with toys they don’t play with, kiddy bedding and Disney Jr. posters. There was also NO storage besides an already filled closet. When we switched to twin beds awhile back, they wanted them right next to each other. Now I think they realize that they already spend enough time together… basically sleeping together is not necessary. So, I knew the first thing I had to do was move them apart as far as I could in a shared room. They also have a play room in our basement that is bigger than this bedroom so we moved almost ALL the toys down there. My dad made a comment like, well where are all the toys? My answer was simple. They can walk their very capable legs down the steps to their GIGANTIC play room and get them when needed. Haha! It hasn’t been an issue so far and they have been great about bringing stuff back down there when their done with it. I’m trying my best to avoid the cluster again and I think they are too. Who likes to play in a room that is messy anyways? You could also talk to mattress experts and browse their selection of pocketed-coil and maybe give that a try.
