Wow, this month flew right by us. Once again we were coming to the end of the month and realized we needed to do date night. DON’T SKIP IT PEOPLE!
Since we were so last minute, babysitters were scarce – which means time to break out our “in-home” date night! It was a good kick-off to Cody’s vacation week!
I had a night of board games/movies at home written down as a date idea but was saving it for the colder months, or something potentially for the office at Bumped during a slow day. I really only like my mom or Cody’s mom to babysit the kids and they were both busy so we had to use it this month. This is such a great cheap date option! You don’t have to pay for a sitter, you most likely have movies/games already and then just pick up your favorite snacks and drinks.
We decided on Battleship, Yahtzee, Scattergories & Scrabble (even though we only ended up playing Battleship and Scattergories). I wanted to break out some old movies we loved as kids – we picked Richie Rich, First Kid and Heavyweights. We ended up watching Heavyweights and then putting on Are You Afraid of the Dark. I posted AYAD on my Instagram stories and I got a MILLION messages about it! Haha, apparently it was a blast from the past for a lot of people. I honestly don’t know where we got them but we have the seasons on DVD!
You could get really creative with this date and make it themed! You could do a 90s or 80s theme and watch movies from that era, eat snacks from that era, etc. It would be a fun twist on a regular date – I wish I would have thought about it sooner!
We set up camp in the living room after the babies went to bed. The girls were at their dads house but if they were home we would havebhad them stay downstairs in their room since they don’t go to bed until 10:30pm. We broke out all the snacks, had a few drinks and it got competitive! Bonus about this date… you don’t even have to get ready! We woke up the next day and talked about how fun it was. Battleship is probably my new favorite game and I want to play it again tonight!

Now for some cheesy high-school type kissing pics 🙂
Staying at home for a date night isn’t usually my favorite idea but we ended up having a really good time. We talked, we laughed, and having that one on one time to connect away from the kids is always needed. Stay tuned for next month!
