Okay I’m a little behind at posting part two of our Disney World vacation (that we took in OCTOBER!). I wanted to make sure I get it up here though for my own memory keeping. If you missed part one you can read that first – HERE.
DAY THREE: HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
My favorite park of them all! Hollywood Studios had been majorly updated since the last time we were there, so I was looking forward to checking all the new attractions out. It was also by far the busiest park (probably because of all the new rides). We went with a Toy Story theme for our outfits because they house Toy Story Land.
One thing to mention about H.S… one of the new Star Wars rides, Rise of the Resistance, has a virtual queue. Meaning you have to get on the Disney World app and try to get a spot in line. If you snag a spot, it will tell you what time you get to ride. You have two chances to get into the virtual line, 9AM and 2PM. This is actually a huge pain in the butt. I mean you have to be on the app EXACTLY at those times and be fast enough to hit the buttons to get a spot. Cody and I were both on our phones and neither of us could get on at the 9AM spot. Definitely google some tips and tricks to getting on before you get to the park! We ended up getting a spot during the 2PM drop though.
The first new ride we got on was Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We absolutely loved it. It was the longest we waited in line (1 hour) during the entire trip but it was worth it.
Then we headed over to Toy Story Land – this place is UNREAL. The theming, props, decor, rides… everything is just so well done. You truly feel like you are in the land of toys. A new ride we did there was the Slinky Dog Dash – SOO FUN! Mason was a little scared to ride it but afterwards he loved it.
One of my favorite places to eat is the Sci-Fi Diner, so we had lunch there. Then finished off the park day in the Star Wars land and doing my favorite ride in all of Disney… Tower of Terror! Star Wars land was also so incredibly themed. My dad is a huge fan and all I thought about was how much he would have loved going there!
Of course we went back to the resort to relax and have a pool night!! I know I said this in the other blog but THIS RESORT!! Ahh soooo beautiful!
DAY FOUR: ANIMAL KINGDOM
Day four was spent at Animal Kingdom! I enjoy this park because it’s always so low key. I feel like it’s always the less crowded park and there’s lots of shade for hot days. Mckenzie, Cody and I had a Lion King theme for our outfits. Kasey and Harper did a Dino theme for the Dinosaur part of the park and Mason was just rocking Mickey.
Once we were at the park we headed to Pandora (Avatar World). This was an area we had never seen before and I was so excited for it. We rode Flight of Passage and Oh. My. God. Hands down coolest ride I’ve ever been on! I heard a lot of people get motion sickness on it so I was worried about that but everyone in my family was fine. We rode Navi River Journey too which was very cool but super short!
I think all of our favorite parts of the day was the Safari. We got to see so many animals that are usually hiding! I feel like Animal Kingdom is a half day park so we finished everything pretty early with the low crowds. McKenzie road Everest three or four times in a row! We went back to the resort and spent more time at the pool of course.
DAY FIVE: MAGIC KINGDOM
Our last park day had to end with Magic Kingdom. I really think you need two days at MK! Since we went in October, we had to have a Halloween attire day. Due to the low crowds because of COVID we rode everything the first day, so today we got to re-ride all our favorite ones!
The rides we rode a million times were Splash Mountain, Little Mermaid, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and Haunted Mansion. Do you want to know what ride we waited the longest for?……
THE CAROUSEL. Not joking!! It was like a 30 minute wait.
Masks suck but those wait times made it all worth it!!
I just wanted to say that Disney magic is so real. I’m a Universal Studios girl until I die but you will never feel the type of magic Disney gives. The way the cast members called the girls princesses, seeing characters, the sounds/smells.. everything! As we were leaving for the day a cast member said “Bye Marie! Have fun at your new home!” (Marie is the cat Harper is holding) and Harper thought it was so special and she was smiling so big. Just little things like that is what makes Disney special.
DAY SIX: DISNEY SPRINGS
Our flight home wasn’t until the evening so we had the whole day to explore Disney Springs. Old Key West is usually only a quick boat taxi away from the Springs but it was closed due to COVID. We left our luggage with the bellhop and took the handy bus instead.
World of Disney was amazing! We spent a full hour in there and purchased a lot of our souvenirs. Then we headed on the Magical Express and headed to the airport. We were so sad to leave.
Well that’s a wrap on our Disney Pandemic vacation! Overall, we had an awesome time. The year leading up to it was very stressful since we didn’t even know if it would happen but we made it! If you’re thinking about going while COVID is still a thing – I suggest just doing it! They are very strict about masks and their safety measures are so good! But crowd levels alone make it worth it. Not to mention our free upgrade to Old Key West!!
