Hi guys! Wow.. we did it! We completed our goal of going on a date EVERY single month this year. I cannot believe that it has already been 12 months, but here we are. I forgot to write a blog post for our November date so I’m going to combine these two months.
NOVEMBER DATE
This wasn’t our “intended” date for this month but our other plans got canceled due to lack of a babysitter. We had a wedding to go to anyways, which was coordinated by modernmoh.com and figured we could use that night as our “date”. Even though we were with our friends all night, it was so much fun to dress up, dance and have a few drinks! I had another excuse to wear this dress from our family photoshoot in the fall too! I love going to weddings!
DECEMBER DATE
Orignially Cody had an amazing date all planned out for us… dinner at Bistro Bella Vita (my fav) and a night time carriage ride downtown Grand Rapids. It was so thoughtful AND the only date he planned entirely on his own. Unfortunately, it was rainy and didn’t quite work out so we had to think of something else last minute. We decided to go to Gun Lake Casino! We are not huge gamblers but think its fun to go every once in awhile.
The casino is about 45 minutes away from our house and obviously indoors so it didn’t sound so bad. We had a REALLY yummy dinner right at the casino. We walked around, had a few drinks, and lost some money. 😉
Playing slots is fun (I’m too chicken to actually go to the tables) and we had a great time even though we didn’t come home as winners!
I know we completed our goal of 12 dates for 2019 but we still plan on continuing this year after year. Date night is so important!!! It’s nice to look forward to a kid-free night. We were talking in the car after leaving the casino about all the dates we did this year. Cody said his favorite was the Salem trip and the fishing date. My favorite was Salem too but also the NF concert.
We decided that we would always do date night every month but one month of the year, we want to make sure we have a whole weekend away. This year was our Salem trip. I’m thinking next year a weekend in Chicago or a weekend wine tasting up north. So many possibilities!
Making sure we spend time with just each other has been really important for our marriage. I HIGHLY encourage other couples to do the same!
Here is the entire recap of our 2019 dates:
