This past week I turned 30. THIRTY. 3-0.
I think I’m still trying to process it. I vividly remember telling classmates that my own mom was 30 years old. Now here I am. Its a weird feeling. I’ve heard that the 30s are some of the best years and I believe it!!
MONDAY
To kick off my birthday week, Cody had an eleven day vacation! I’m always thankful for his days off. On my actual birthday (June 29th), he surprised me with the most amazing 30th birthday gift! A beautiful band to add to my wedding stack! I’ve been staring at it all week. Seriously. Usually we can’t keep things from each other because we share a bank account and he’s honestly not one to get gifts without running it by me first. He did this totally on his own and it was a complete surprise so it made it that much sweeter.
I spent the day out shopping for myself! I might like to shop a lot but I rarely buy things for myself – I love spending money on the kids. So, I made a point to actually shop for me. Then we had a date night at Dockers in Muskegon, MI. This is a restaurant right on Lake Michigan and it gives me all the Florida vibes (our favorite place). It was a perfect day.
TUESDAY
I met up with friends for our “book club” meeting. I don’t think we even discuss books anymore.. haha! I always love being around my gals and chatting while sipping some champagne. I even got to get some baby cuddles in (my friends baby)!
WEDNESDAY
I painted like crazy, which seems like work but its something I really enjoy. I had a 30% off sale for my birthday and I didn’t anticipate the huge response! I’ve had to work fast to keep up!
THURSDAY
I finally had a hair appointment!! I didn’t want much change, except to go a little lighter. I had a lot of questions about what I got done, so I’m sharing my cousins instagram below. She is the one who always does my hair. Grand Rapids friends – book an appointment before salons close again!!
FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY
For the Fourth of July weekend, we decided to camp up at Cody’s parents cottage. We usually spend the 4th there anyways but we wanted to stay a full weekend and not drive home. We got a tent since there isn’t enough bedrooms for everyone inside the cottage. It had the A/C hooked up to it too which made it bearable! I ended up sleeping inside after the first night because I’m high maintenance and tent life isn’t for me – ha.
We had so much fun!! The kids tubed, jet-skied, took boat rides, swam alllllll day, played with their cousins, played with friends… it was great. The weather was HOT. I don’t know how the kids didn’t pass out every day from all the activity and heat.
We took the boat out to watch fireworks. All the major cities around us canceled their firework shows but there was quite the show out on the lake! They even do a ring of fire around the lake with flares, which is really cool to see.
We are so lucky to have the cottage in our family to be able to enjoy for years and years! The kids love being there and its only 40 minutes away from our house!
It was the best 30th birthday week!! My family spoiled me, my kids were SO good and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Cheers to my thirties!!
