Hi guys! Today I thought I would do something different and blog my entire day by posting a picture every hour! These pictures aren’t going to be “blog worthy” (whatever that means) but I wanted to share what it’s really like being a stay at home mom of four. I’m not lying when I say that this is the hardest job I’ve ever had – mentally and physically. I have fun being home with my babes but there are LOTS of days when I’m drained, exhausted, irritated, overstimulated… you get it right? You never know which direction the day will turn. I literally just go with the flow and make sure everyone survives the day.
Here’s to hoping today is on my side after getting about four hours of sleep! Some nights I have insomnia and last night was definitely one of them.
7:00 AM
I wake up for the day a little before 7AM to get the girls ready for school. They usually have a quick breakfast, get clothes on, brush teeth and hair, pack their backpacks and leave. It only takes about an hour to get them out the door.
8:00 AM
The babies wake up around this time. I change their diapers and they say their goodbyes to McKenzie and Kasey. They love to watch the school bus pick them up.
9:00 AM
I pour my first coffee for the day and hang out with Harper and Mason in the living room. Today we watched The Rugrats Movie while they had a snack. They usually have a banana or dry cereal as a snack before breakfast because I’ve found they aren’t super hungry right when they wake up.
10:00 AM
We have our breakfast. Today I had oatmeal and the babies had waffles. After they eat, they continued to play toys. I worked on some blog stuff and wrote out my grocery list for tomorrow.
11:00 AM
I decided to put myself on the schedule for work today. I can’t ever plan in advance because I never know when Cody will be mandated at work. I always need to have ideas on how to keep my kids busy for the rest of the day, check this site out for ideas. I wait until I know he is for sure coming home and then work around that. Also, just because I put myself on the schedule – doesn’t mean I’ll get to work. It all depends on if I get sent orders during the time I’m on the schedule. Shipt is an extremely flexible job and I can easily make $50 in 3 hours. I try to work as much as possible during the week because we like the extra money and I like to get out of the house for a little bit. I recommend applying if you’re a stay at home mom!
12:00 PM
Time for lunch already! Today the kids had Mac N’ Cheese (their fav!) and carrots. I decided to have an easy meal because I didn’t want to prepare anything. I went with a Smart One microwave meal. Right after lunch I put the kids down for a nap. It usually takes 30 minutes for them to actually fall asleep though. After going in a million times to lay them back down and I know they are actually sleeping, I’ll usually go downstairs and run one mile. Since it’s a Tuesday I have bootcamp class tonight – so I skip the run. I cleaned up the kitchen and living room a little bit and FINALLY got ready for the day. I legit didn’t even have pants on until this point of the day. 🙂 #momlife
1:00 PM
The babies are fast asleep and I enjoy the next hour just hanging out in silence. I usually don’t even have my TV on because I love the quiet so much. Today I read some Harry Potter and caught up on my favorite vloggers/bloggers. I also got some orders for work!
2:00 PM
I wake Cody up for the day and the babies are usually still sleeping. I don’t have much time to hang out with him because I have to head out the door for work. Today I had to stop to the post office to drop off some Disney pin trades! I’ve been on this pin kick (watch it here) and I trade with other pin collectors through the mail. I know… you don’t need to tell me how nerdy I am.
3:00 PM
I did a few orders at work. I had the sweetest delivery from a woman in Chicago who was ordering groceries for her 80 year old parents. They were the cutest little couple! I stayed and talked with them for a little bit and they gave a very generous tip!
4:00 PM
I continued to work and I stopped to get gas. I took a snap of this gas station because its the same one a local woman, Jessica Heeringa was abducted at years ago (they still haven’t found her!) and it really gives me the creeps. Look up her case! It’s an interesting one!
I also stopped by Target to exchange some jeans the girls got for Christmas. I have tons of Target gift cards from Christmas too but I only shopped in the $1 section today! Be proud of me!
5:00 PM
I came home to some really cute kids who were excited to see their mama! The way Harper and Mason look at me when I walk in the door will always be my favorite! 🙂 I sat and talked with the girls about what happened at school and then started prepping for dinner.
6:00 PM
I found this candle in the Target dollar section and it smells amazing! So I lit in right away and stuck it in our bedroom.
We ate dinner – tonight I made Turkey Tostadas which is a go-to healthy meal in our house.
7:00 PM
Time to give the babies a bath and put them to bed! They always go to bed right around 7PM and won’t wake up until 7-8AM. I was blessed with four kids who love sleep and I’m so thankful for it!
8:00 PM
Like I said earlier, on Tuesday’s I go to a bootcamp class with my mom. I always dread going but once I’m finished, I feel so much better! This picture was after I got back home – McKenzie and I were “cheersing” as she likes to call it.
Around this time I have the girls do their homework and reading. They take showers every other night and tonight was an off night – otherwise they would do that too. Cody starts getting ready to go to work.
9:00 PM
Once all the kids are in bed and Cody has left for work, I try and tackle the MESS! This was our pile of dishes tonight.. they definitely had to be taken care of ASAP. If there are only a few in the sink, I’ll let them go until the morning. I tidy up the living room and put away all the toys.
10:00 PM
Now entering my favorite time of the day… FINALLY time for me to take a shower. I prefer to take evening showers because I hate blow drying my hair. Granted, I only wash my hair a few times a week.
11:00 PM
BEDTIME. I’m not lying when I say my bed is like sleeping on a cloud. It’s my favorite place ever! Tonight I’m reading some Harry Potter and working on this blog post!
Goodnight friends! Xoxo
