Gosh you guys, I just really can’t believe I’m old enough to have fourth graders. I feel like I’m still the 21 year old who doesn’t have her shit together. Nope, I’m quickly approaching 30. Lord help me.
Yesterday I cleaned and organized the girl’s bedroom. Typically I have them clean their own room but their idea of cleaning is throwing everything under their bed and in the closet so it’s lost forever. I really wanted to get a good start to the school year with as little clutter and mess as possible. I washed all their bedding so they would have a peaceful sleep before school. I picked out a couple books to read to them before bed (The Name Jar & Bad Case of the Stripes) and talked to them about bullying, acceptance and being proud of who they are. They are such sweet girls and care so much about other people’s feelings, but I like to remind them to treat people with respect.
We laid out their outfits, packed their bags and went to bed early. WELL… around 9:30 pm the freakin’ tornado sirens start going off! Needless to say, no one had a peaceful anything before school. Especially me. It was thundering and lightening almost the ENTIRE night.
I had to include these pictures too – “hey mom, take a picture of me”
Although tired, they woke up so eager to get to school! They were ready to go (with shoes and backpacks on) about 25 minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive. That eagerness will last exactly two days and then we will be running out to the bus stop so we don’t miss it.
I let them pick out their clothes and this is the first year they didn’t want to match. Ugh, my twin loving heart is broken. They are totally their own little people with their own personalities but YOU HAVE TO MATCH DANG IT.
I can’t wait to hear about how their first day went!! They have cheer practice today too, so I know they will be sooo ready for an early bedtime tonight.
